Tips on Getting the Right Bike Size
When choosing a bike to buy, it is important to go for a test ride to know exactly the right frame size that fits for you and your unique body dimension. If you feel that it is “somewhat” suits your needs, but still feels uncomfortable, you can try to fine- tune the seat and handle bars to make it perfectly right. But still, the best way to find the perfect fit is to look for the bike size for your unique body type.
For new cyclist, a good starting point in getting the right bike size is to stand over the frame and measure the clearance between your crotch and the top tube of the bike. This will determine your stand over height. The clearance should be not too much nor not too little. Try increasing 2cm for road bikes and 2″ increments for mountain bikes. Accurate measurements are essential, you should also measure your height to easily determine and choose the size of bike to own. You can get someone else to measure it for you if you are still uncertain or you can refer to general bike size chart to successfully get the proper measurement.
